Tamil flick Chennai 600028 is being remade in Hindi. Why is that good news for the Kannada film industry? Because our industry’s poster boy, Diganth, makes his Hindi debut in the film.

The film tells the story of players belonging to a gully cricket team.

Shakti Kapoor’s son, Sidhanth Kapoor will also be seen in the film. Yazad, who has assisted Bejoy Nambiar of David fame, is the director.

Shooting is expected to start in November.

It may be recalled that Diganth was supposed to make his debut with 1920 London, a horror flick. But he opted out due to date problems. In Kannada, he is working on a Kodi Ramakrishna film with Ramya.

Singer Upendra is talent galore

You have heard Upendra croon in Jogayya and most recently in the Darshan starrer Brindavana. You have also danced to songs that come with his very catchy lyrics (Appu). His directorials are super popular too.

Upendra is fond of experimentation. This time he will be lending his voice to explain a clip that will feature people and places of North Karnataka.

The clip will be shown in Ragini IPS, an upcoming film. Ragini Dwivedi is the heroine. Ragini is in fact acting with Uppi in an untitled film but their first film together, Aaraksha, tanked at the box office.

Poonam Pandey to make Kannada debut

Poonam Pandey of Nasha fame is the latest Hindi film starlet to act in Kannada films. The controversial and ‘ready-to-bare-it-all’ lady will be doing an item dance in Love is Poison, an upcoming Kannada film. Rajesh is the hero of the film.

The song sequence requires Poonam to wear heavy jewellery. This, it seems, is giving her trouble. “But all the same I love being in front of the camera. It’s almost like the camera is my boyfriend,” says the leggy lass.

She says that she is having a good time here. “The cast and crew are very supportive. They are making me feel at home.”
