Sameera, Deepika, Mallika: Bollywood's new skin show

Along with flamboyant colours, a wide range of silhouettes and quirky designs, Bollywood's fashion trends are sometimes as curious as its movies.

The Herve Leger bodycon fever, which lasted for quite a while, had every actress worth her salt scamper for her favoured version of the bandage dress, unabashedly unmindful of how it sat on their bodies (in some cases) or whether they had the body to carry it off.

The bodycon dress's successor is the sheer detail in gowns, cocktail dress and sari blouses. Take a look!

The actress, one of the many Bollywood patrons of designer duo Falguni and Shane Peacock, donned this outfit as they kicked off the latest edition of the annual Blender's Pride tour a few days ago.

Murder 3 actress Esha Gupta has steadily risen in the ranks of sharp dressers in Bollywood.

So it came across as a small stepdown when she donned this Mandira Wirk creation to walk the ramp at a Blender's Pride show.

Sophie Choudry's Manav Gangwani gown at IIFA 2010 created quite a furore for it's strategically placed floral details and many felt it was a bit too revealing for a formal do.

We have just one thing to say: Look at those flawless washboard abs!

Sushmita Sen's barely-there top half of the dress could do with some more opaque garment, don't you think?

Starlet Sherlyn Chopra took her film Kamasutra 3D to Cannes this year wearing, well, this.

Her eye-catching neck piece vied for attention with her decolletage in this sheer top that she paird with a lehenga

Mallika Sherawat, who keeps all her outrageous outfits for global events, wore this relatively conservative lacy dress to an event in Vienna in 2011.

Sonakshi Sinha's winsome smile fails to salvage this garish Falguni & Shane Peacock creation.

Too much gold, if you ask us.

Sofia Hayat

British import Sofia Hayat never fails to grab eyeballs with her sartorial choices.

Just when we thought her birthday-in-bikini act couldn't be topped, she arrived at an event in Mumbai wearing this curious spandex-meets-pleats-meets-skull-accessory outfit.

Freida Pinto

Freida Pinto was a sight for sore eyes at the Cannes Film Festival in 2012.

Her beaded Versace number, however, couldn't pip her floral bodice gown which was a huge hit with fashion pundits.
