Amitabh Bachchan: Suchitra Sen was talent and grace personified

Iconic actress Suchitra Sen breathed her last in Kolkata earlier this morning. She was 82. Several Bollywood stars took to Twitter and paid their tributes to the legendary actress.

Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, 'As I drive to work, news of passing away of another icon saddens me - Suchitra Sen, has left us! Talent and grace personified!'

He added further, 'Suchitra Sen .. beauty, talent, enigmatic - she adorned film world of Bengal with exquisite performances .. graced Hindi films too !'

Madhuri Dixit-Nene wrote, 'RIP Suchitra Sen. Indian Cinema will miss you.'

Shoojit Sircar tweeted, 'RIP Suchitra Sen… Real inspiration… How to detach yourself from the Stardom and Film world … Spiritual power.'

Bengali actor Prosenjit Chatterjee said it was a great loss for Bengali cinema, 'It’s a great loss for Bengali Cinema and Indian CinemaMaha Nayika is no more… Mrs Sen… RIP.'

Sridevi tweeted, 'An actor par excellence, a divine beauty, a legend and an icon who will inspire generations to come. RIP Suchitra Sen.'

Madhur Bhandarkar remembered the actress, 'Suchitra Sen will always be remembered for her remarkable performances in Devdas, Aandhi, Mamta and immense contribution to Bengali Cinema. RIP.'

Bipasha Basu wrote, 'Rip Suchitra Sen!Real Beauty:( Strength to the family).'

Veteran actor Prem Chopra also remembered the actress: ”It’s a great loss. She is a great actress and iconic figure of Bengali film. She made her name all over the world.”

Onir was saddened by the news, 'With the demise of the beautiful and talented Suchitra Sen Bengali cinema has lost one of the most beautiful actress and dynamic personality.'

Rituparna Sengupta, who is set to reprise Sen’s iconic character in the remake of Debi Chowdhurani, said, 'She was a great symbol of women empowerment. She was not only known in Bengali film industry but also in the international cinema. I look upto her. She lived in the minds of people and remembered for her beautiful smile and the aura.'
