Statistical Highlights 4th match: New Zealand v West Indies at Wellington, 8/9-1-2000

• This match was the 1535th in Limited over international (LOI) history.

• This match was New Zealand's 341st and West Indies' 392nd in LOIs.

• This match was the 29th meeting between the two sides.

• This was the 141st match to be played in New Zealand and the 26th to be played at Wellington. The West Indies was playing its third match here.

• The venue has been renamed as the Westpac Trust Stadium. The earlier name was the Basin Reserve.

• Steve Dunne who was officiating in his 84th LOI match, equals the tally of Australian Tony Crafter and is now placed in the joint third position among umpires with maximum LOI matches. Only England's David Shepherd (91) and Australian Steve Randell (88) have appeared in more matches.

• Nathan Astle was appearing in his 100th match. He becomes the 11th Kiwi and the 99th player in LOI history to do so.

• Chris Harris was playing in his 145th match which makes him the second most capped player for New Zealand. Now only John Wright - 149 - has appeared in more matches for New Zealand. Harris in this match went past Martin Crowe's 144 matches.

• Sherwin Campbell (30) who was dismissed first-ball twice in consecutive innings top-scored for the West Indies while batting at number five.

• The four dismissals (4ct+1st) by Adam Parore equals the best performance by a Kiwi keeper at home. The others were Parore who claimed 4 catches against Pakistan at Napier, 28-12-1992 and Lee Germon had two catches and two stumpings against England at this same venue on 4-3-1997.

• Harris' figures of 10-3-15-1 was the most economical by a Kiwi bowler bowling his full quota of overs against the West Indies. The previous best figures being: 10-1-18-2 by Gavin Larsen at Georgetown on 3-4-1996.

• Scott Styris playing in his seventh LOI match recorded his personal best of 3-37. It betters his previous best of 3-63 which came on his debut, against India at Rajkot on 5-11-1999.

• Nathan Astle during his unbeaten innings of 76 has become the highest run-getter for New Zealand against the West Indies. He has now scored 392 runs (avg 32.67) in 13 matches and has surpassed Stephen Fleming's 356 runs (avg 44.50) in 12 matches.

• The unbeaten partnership of 149 runs between Nathan Astle and Roger Twose was New Zealand's fourth highest for the third wicket against any country. However it was New Zealand's best against the West Indies for this wicket in LOIs. The previous highest being the 120 between Fleming and Lee Germon at Kingstown on 6-4-1996.

• New Zealand's eight wicket victory was its best against the West Indies. Its previous best was the seven wicket win at Taupo in the second match of this series on 4-1-2000.

• The West Indies have now lost seven LOI matches in a row - its worst ever performance in LOIs.

• This was the first occasion New Zealand was winning four matches in a row under the captaincy of Fleming.

• Interestingly, prior to this series New Zealand had won only four of the 25 matches against the West Indies. And now with this win they have doubled their victories against the Windies.

• This was the 17th match in LOI history to be played over two days. This was the second two-day LOI match to be played in New Zealand. The first was between New Zealand and Australia at Christchurch on 21/22 March, 1993. The rest of the 15 two-day LOI matches have been played in England. The last such match was played between England and India at Manchester on 26/27 May, 1996.

• Harris was winning his sixth man of the match award of his career.
