'We will call Kapil in due time' -- CBIOnkar SinghThe Central Bureau of Investigation has clarified that it would call former India captain Kapil Dev only when it feels that the time is ripe for him to be called. "We are not aware of any development that might have taken place outside the premises of CBI. As far as we are concerned, we would call Kapil Dev to appear before us only when we think the time is ripe," R N Savani told rediff.com. Recent reports in the media had talked of how Kapil Dev had called on Federal Minister of State for Sports Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, asking him to ensure that the CBI inquiry was expedited and expressing his own willingness to appear before the CBI at any time. "What Kapil told the minister is between the two of them. We in the CBI are not interested in it. We have been given a job, and we are on it. We are in the process of investigating a serious matter. We have been questioning players whose names have figured so far. We had Ajay Jadeja with us this Sunday. He came back from United States, and called us and fixed up an appointment. He was with us for more then two hours," said the joint director in charge of the investigations. Asked what Jadeja had to say, Savani responded, "I would prefer not to make any comment on individual statements, all I have to say is that our inquiries are progressing." CBI sources indicated that thus far, they have examined over one hundred persons in connection with the ongoing investigation. These include a large number of bookies based in Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, Bangalore, Madras and other parts of India. Manoj Prabhakar, the man who started the whole thing going with his initial allegations, was recently summoned for a second session at CBI headquarters. "We wanted some clarifications, after speaking to some other former cricket players," CBI sources said, when asked why Prabhakar had been recalled.
