'We have decided to back Kapil Dev till it is proved that he is guilty'The working committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India met at the Taj Palace on Friday. At the conclusion of the meeting, board president A C Muthaiah addressed the media and answered questions. Listen to his replies on Real Audio:
Have you formulated any code of conduct?
What have you decided so far about the match-fixing and betting in Britain? Did any discussion take place on this?
Where was he misquoted?
Was Kapil's name in the discussion?
The Delhi High Court had issued a notice to the BCCI and it was to be replied by the 15th of May, but you did not reply. What really happened?
Do you believe Mr Bindra when he says that he's been restricted by the CBI to give any details about the match-fixing allegations?
In case you are not satisfied with his explanation to the show cause?
When are you issuing the show cause notice?
You had also proposed in the Chennai press conference that you are proposing a code of conduct for the board officials.... Any action on that? Is it even for the players?
Mr Muttaiah, one more thing was there in the agenda... that the match fees which the players get should be according to the performances of the players...
Anything on restricting the Indian team not to go to these offshore countries to play.... There have been reports that sources in the BCCI said that we won't send the team to Sharjah and all..
After all these allegations and counter allegations and also allegations against Kapil Dev, don't you think the morale of the team might be down?
But Kapil himself said that India should stop playing cricket until this is resolved...
Do you have any doubts about the performance of Kapil?
When allegations against the national coach came out, don't you think the board delayed in reacting and backing it's own coach?
Have you asked Mr Bindra to give an explanation why he took Kapil Dev's name? And has Mr Bindra given any kind of assurance that he won't talk to the press?
Anything about the relationship between the BCCI and PCA? Because a statement came a few days back, that subsidies being given to the PCA will be stopped or something like that...
Do you have any doubts... if those subsidies are not given to PCA then Mr Bindra will again be aggressive and talk to the press?
Can we say that the majority of the members are seeking clarifications from Mr Bindra?
How soon will he give the clarifications?
