Junhui Ding is Asian under-21 snooker champion
China's Junhui Ding gave ample display of his class to clinch the fourth Asian under-21
snooker championship in Kolkata on Friday.
Top seeded Indian, Manan Chandra had to rest content with the third place.
The 15-year-old Ding, who produced some stunning snooker during the five-day prize-money meet, maintained the same level of consistency in the final to script a convincing 6-2 victory over third seed Pramual Janthat of Thailand.
Ding could not manage big breaks in the summit showdown but played a steady game to register a 70-33, 71-10, 78-28, 89-12, 37-74, 55-66, 75-46, 61-20 victory.
Manan Chandra, who crashed to Ding in the semi-finals, beat Malaysia's Keem Ho Moh 3-0 to finish third.
Chandra, who was tipped to win the title, spanked the
hapless Moh 88-0, 60-26, 66-43.
Chandra got into the groove from the very first frame with a
break of 81 and never looked back thereafter despite the Malaysian trying to make a comeback in the third frame.
