Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza, who was offered a wildcard for the Women's Tennis Association Qatar Open, has decided not to participate in the event because of an ankle injury.
The Qatar Tennis Federation announced on Tuesday that the 18 year old is being offered a wildcard for the $600,000 Tier-II tournament, which will also feature Russia's Maria Sharapova, Frenchwoman Amelie Mauresmo, 2004 French Open champion Anastasia Myskina of Russia and upcoming Australian Alicia Molik.

Sania's mother Nasima Mirza confirmed that Sania had been offered a wildcard but is unable to take part.
The injury has troubling Sania for a month. She braved the injury to win the WTA Hyderabad Open last week, and had reached the third round of the 2005 Australian Open in January.
She had pulled out of the WTA event in Columbia, which was to start on February 14.
