Bharat Petroleum defeated Indian Oil 2-1 in the Super League of the second Maharaja Ranjit Singh hockey tournament at the Shivaji Stadium in Delhi on Thursday.

Len Aiyappa put Bharat Petroleum ahead in the 12th minute through a penalty-corner conversion. Prabhjot Singh leveled the score through a field goal just two minutes later.

The winner came in the 46th minute through man of the match Amar Aiyamma.

However, the defeat did not prevent Indian Oil from making it to the last four along with Bharat Petroleum.

In another match, Army XI beat Air India through two penalty-corner conversions.

Tomba Singh put the soldiers ahead in the fourth minute while man of the match C S Xalxo put the result beyond doubt in the 49th minute.
