Two days away from the event, and the Mumbai Open already has a diluted field.

Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis and Frenchman Jo Wilfried Tsonga joined the list of high-profile pull-outs from the ATP tournament, which will be played at the Cricket Club of India, Mumbai, from September 24 to 30.

Though the tour director, Gaurav Natekar, refused to confirm their withdrawal, the entry list for the tournament has an 'OUT' against both the players' names.

With Russia's former world number one Marat Safin already withdrawing from the tournament due to a wrist injury, it will come down to Australian terrier Lleyton Hewitt to carry the show on his shoulders.

India's top doubles player Leander Paes will also not be playing. He is teaming up with Scot Jamie Murray for the Bangkok Open next week.

Meanwhile, top seed Richard Gasquet, Frenchman Paul-Henri Matthieu and Germany's Nicolas Kiefer arrived in the city but had a truncated practice session due to the sporadic rain in the city.
