he Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre receives just Rs 496,400 for 68 inmates
from the Kendriya Sainik Board -- or Rs 7,300 per inmate. It receives an additional Rs 768,600 annually towards maintenance costs.
To look after an inmate -- to feed him, to attend to him, for his medical requirements -- Rs 30,000 is needed annually. That is, for its 75 inmates, it spends
Rs 2.25 million every year. The needed balance of Rs 1.75 million is raised from private contributions.
Currently, there are 109 beds at the centre. If it is to be utilised fully, then the centre would need an
annual income of Rs 3.27 million.
To raise, this the centre needs a corpus of Rs 22 million (about US $ 628,571). As of now the PRC has only Rs 9.6 million (inclusive of the Sainik Board grant) in its kitty.
The centre needs Rs 12.4 million more (about US $ 354,285). For which they are now approaching philanthropists and private organisations. Contributions can be send to the Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre, Park Road, Khadki, Pune -- 411 020, India.
