Openers Mehrab Hossain (101) and Shahriyar Hossain (95) who have two of the highest individual scores in LOIs for Bangladesh were dismissed for 2 and 0 respectively. Gavin Larsen's catch of Akram Khan of his own bowling was his third in the WC. Now only Pakistani Asif Iqbal and fellow Kiwi Chris Harris have more such dismissals - four in the WC. The partnership of 34 runs between Naimur Rahman & Enamul Hoque was Bangladesh's third best for the 8th wicket in LOIs. The pair just fell short of the record 25 runs between Saif-ul Islam and Anis-ur Rahman against India at Sharjah on 5-4-1995 Both Gavin Larsen and Chris Cairns now have the best bowling figures (3-19) for New Zealand against Bangladesh. The previous best was 2-41 by Jonathan Millmow at Sharjah on 28-4-1990. Larsen's figures of 10-0-19-3 equals New Zealand's best economical 10-over-spell in the WC. Dipak Patel against West Indies at Auckland in the 1992 WC had figures of 10-2-19-1. However the best for NZ in a WC match remains as 12-6-10-0 by Richard Hadlee against East Africa at Birmingham in 1975. Bangladesh's total of 116 in 37.4 overs was the eight lowest in a WC match and the third lowest in a 50-over WC match. The total of 116 was the lowest at this ground. Australia had made 129 in 38.2 overs against India in 1983 WC. Bangladesh's total was the fourth lowest made against New Zealand in LOIs by any team. Australia (70, Adelaide, 27-1-1986), India (113, Perth, 18-1-1986) and Sri Lanka (115, Colombo, 1-4-1984) are the only teams to score less.
