Zimbabwe announce 'best ever' squad

"I think this is probably one of the best teams we have assembled so far," said an upbeat Zimbabwe Cricket Union chief executive Dave Ellman-Brown, while announcing that country's World Cup squad.

The 15-member team reads: Alistair Campbell (captain), Andy Flower (vice captain), Grant Flower, Neil Johnson, Murray Goodwin, Stuart Carlisle, Dirk Viljoen, Guy Whittal, Paul Strang, Andy Whittal, Adam Huckle, Eddo Brandes, Henry Olonga, Mpumelelo Mbwangwa and Heath Streak.

Campbell and the seasoned Flower brothers will lead the batting, with the rapidly emerging Johnson and Goodwin in support.

Stream, Brandes and Mbwangwa will spearhead the attack, though Zimbabwe will depend a lot on its bits and pieces bowlers like Guy Whittal, plus the spin of Paul Strang.

Zimbabwe is drawn in the same group as India, Sri Lanka, South Africa, England and Bangladesh. Only three of those teams can go through to the Super Six. Zimbabwe's chances of getting into the elite group look bleak -- however, a good all round squad backed by electric fielding could see Campbell's side having considerable nuisance value, upsetting higher rated applecarts along the way.
