Advani rushes to Ahmedabad: PTI

Union Home Minister L K Advani on Friday airdashed to Ahmedabad for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation arising out of the earthquake that struck several parts of the country.

The Union Cabinet will also be meeting at 1700 hours today to assess the situation in the quake-hit state.

Before his departure, Advani told reporters that he had spoken to the Gujarat Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel, who informed him that an assessment of the damage was being carried out.

Advani, elected to the Lok Sabha from Gandhinagar constituency, said Kutch was the worst affected besides Surat and his own constituency.
