Telugu film Anjaneyulu is a drama of good versus the evil. It has to be, given the fact that it has been named after god Hanuman.
The film tracks the efforts of the hero played by Ravi Teja to wipe out the anti-social elements and the nexus between the politician-goonda-police. As a subject, this has been tackled innumerable times but director Parasuram introduces the element of the media in the film to give it a contemporary touch. It's a formula film with all the staples in place.
Anjaneyulu (Ravi Teja), son of Krishnamurthi (Nasser), is employed in a TV channel. One day he bumps into Anjali (Nayantara) at night and she hugs him and requests him to save her from a bunch of baddies. Anjaneyulu saves her, and in the process falls in love with her.
Meanwhile, in order to raise the TRP's of the channel Prabhakar (Brahmanandam) is brought in. But he does everything else but what he is supposed to do. There are the baddies Bapinaidu (JP Reddy) Bada (Sonu Sood) and Kota to contend with. Anjaneyulu does that as an undercover person also to take vengeance for a personal reason. Thereby he exposes the nefarious activities of the home minister, a MLA and the goonda and the nexus between them.
Ravi Teja is the life of the movie. He is like a livewire who adds the necessary zest to the movie with his performance. His energy level is high, and entertains the audience with his brand of comedy. He fights, laughs, dances, cries, sings and what have you. He may be brash and crude but it looks like his successful wave this year may continue which started with Kick.
Nayantara looks slim and rather svelte though she does not have much to do other than add the oomph. Brahmanandam is his usual self and does make the viewers laugh with his wacky lines. So does M S Narayana. Sonu Sood is convincing as the goon. J P Reddy, Kota and Brahmaji (reporter) are believable in their roles. Kim Sharma seems to be doing more item numbers in Telugu these days.
Director Parasuram has stuck to the safe path while making this film.
Filled with masala, Anjaneyulu which is fairly slickly made is likely to go down well with the masses.
