'I don't want to sign every film that comes my way'

You've got a good beginning in Malayalam and Kannada cinema. But there seem to be no other projects after that. What is the reason?

Well, I'm not in a hurry and am not interested in making money. I want to be known as an actress. If I had signed films left and right after my first film Note Book, I would have acted in more than twenty films by now.

I got many offers after my super hit Kannada film Milana got me rave reviews. But I preferred to wait and choose good roles instead. Male Irali Manju Barali is just my seventh film and I don't want to sign every film that comes my way. I want roles of substance.

I'm lucky enough to get such a strong role in my second Kannada film. After working in Milana, I was a little apprehensive about getting a role of substance again as I have seen many female artists not so lucky after getting a very good break. But I am really thankful to God that I got an opportunity to work with a good team of talented artists and technicians.

It is every actor's dream that he or she should be part of a good team. Besides the film's director [Vijayalakshmi Singh], I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to work in a film with such talented technicians like cameraman Ajay Vincent and music maestro Mano Murthy. The film carries a very good feel from the beginning.
