The 111th day celebrations of Malayalam film Traffic was held on April 26 at Hotel Gokulam Park in Kochi. Kamal Haasan was the chief guest during the occasion.

Several noted names from the industry attended the event. Mementos were distributed to all who were part of the making of the film.

Kamal Haasan announced the launch of the Tamil version of Traffic, which will be produced by his own banner Raj Kamal films. In the Tamil version, he will be doing the role that was done by Rahman (that of a superstar) in the original.

The actor was excited about how he felt watching Traffic. "All the characters in the film are still in my mind. I loved watching Sreenivasan playing the role of the police constable. Even the man who talks to him at the vegetable vendor's place is still there right in my heart. On a lighter vein, I was thinking of playing the cop myself while I was watching the film but soon enough, I became a fan of Sreenivasan."

The actor added, "The superstar, played by Rahman, who is distraught when he is unable to do much for his daughter's illness with his clout is an amazing character. I am all thrilled about the film and am proud that Malayalam cinema, which has a very special place in my heart, has come up with such a gem," said Haasan.

Rajesh Pillai, who directed Traffic in Malayalam, will direct the Tamil version. Bobby and Sanjay, the scenarists and most of the crew members will be part of the film.

The Hindi version of Traffic is in the pipeline, which will be produced by Endemol.

Traffic intertwines four stories that of a superstar Sidharth Sankar, cop Sahadevan, journalist Raihaan and a surgeon Dr Aby. Their lives get entwined on a fateful day. The story has been inspired from an actual event that happened in Chennai where the heart of a youngster, who died in an accident, was carried via road to a hospital some hours away for heart transplant.

Script and direction are the film's strenghts

Traffic, which had released on January 7, became a sensation though it didn't have many saleable stars in the cast. The script and the direction are regarded as the strengths of the film.

During the celebrations, directors Sibi Malayil, Lal Jose, B Unnikrishnan, scenarist Benny P Nayarambalam, producer Liberty Basheer and the film's cast and crew were also present.

Director Rajesh Pillai, scenarists Bobby and Sanjay, producer Listin Stephen, music director Mejo Joseph, actors Sreenivasan, Rahman and Ramya Nambeesan also shared their thoughts on Traffic.
