Jayeebhava is bland

Director Naren Kondepati's Telugu debut film Jayeebhava starring Nandamuri Kalyan Ram is all about two families involved in a feud where each one tries to outsmart the other, but whose children complicate things by falling in love with each other.

Nothing new for the audience given the hackneyed subject.

Ram (Kalyan Ram) is the son of 'don' Bhavani (Mukesh Rishi) who is brought up abroad as his father wants to keep him away from the domestic rivalry between him and Narasimha (JP Reddy), another 'don'.

However, fate has something else in store for the warring families. Ram and Anjali (Hansika) meet in Hong Kong and predictably fall in love. Initially both are unaware that their fathers are enemies. Later Ram and Anjali along with Ram's grandfather hatch a plot to bring the families together. There's also a third villain, Yadu (Ashish Vidyarthi) thrown in the mix.

The first half is rather slow and boring to watch. It's only in the second half that the movie picks up steam to some extent when the film veers to a kind of caper with the entry of Brahmanandam. Also, the second half solves the riddle and is filled with more action too.

Naren uses the age-old theme of rivalry between two people in a typical formulaic template which means there's nothing much to look forward to except for some slickness and some fairly good action sequences.

Kalyan Ram tries hard to be enthusiastic and energetic while Hansika doesn't have much to prove in the acting department as the focus is on boosting the glam element, which she has in spades. JP Reddy, Mukesh Rishi and Ashish Vidyarthi are seasoned enough to play such roles which is mere child's play for them. The humour element provided by Raghu babu, Brahmandam and Ali is the mainstay of the film to a major extent.

On the technical front, the director has ensured a slick quality but nothing more than that. Music by Taman S is average.

All in all, Jayeebhava is a bland mish-mash of action, comedy and love elements, and has nothing for the discerning audience.
