Last updated on: February 12, 2010 11:56 IST

Multiplex chains in Mumbai have decided to have a limited release of Shah Rukh Khan's film My Name Is Khan post noon today.

Multiplex owners met this morning at Fun Cinemas in suburban Andheri where it was decided that each multiplex chain will open one of its properties in Mumbai to screen the film and see how it goes, a source told PTI.

Interestingly, the first show at Fun Republic, in Andheri, is already housefull.

However, most of the single screens have decided not to release the movie.

Manoj Desai, owner of Gaiety Galaxy and Maratha Mandir, has decided against releasing the film. "Shiv Sainiks tore the screen at Maratha Mandir even before the release of the film. Why should I take chances?" he asked.

The film will be screened in all theatres outside Mumbai, as there is no trouble, the source said.

My Name is Khan, which released today, ran into trouble with Shiv Sena trying to disrupt the screening protesting Khan's comments on Pakistani players in IPL 3. 11,000 policemen have been deployed to protect the city aganist any violent protests or demonstrations by the Shiv Sena.
